South Essex College fashion students show off their unique sense of style, talk about their creative inspirations and share some stylish tips.
Caroline Bose, 17, from Southend is studying the Fashion Design Level 3 Diploma at the College. Some areas of study on the course include textiles, pattern cutting, printmaking and garment construction.
What are you wearing?
My scarf is from Miss Selfridge, I have a lot of stuff from that shop because I also work their part-time. My shirt is from Primark and my skirt is from River Island. The shoes I’m wearing are from New Look.
Who is the best dressed celebrity?
Jessica Alba, she accessorizes her outfits really well. Even if she’s just in casual clothes, she always looks great. She has lovely hair too and I often say, if your hair is looking nice it can be your best accessory.
And the worst?
Lindsay Lohan without a doubt, she’s probably a really fun person but she doesn’t know how to dress herself. She wears the wrong clothes for her body.
What is your favourite fashion era?
Definitely the 50’s, I like preppy styles and the rockabilly look, stuff like jeans and Chelsea boots.
What is the best style tip you’ve been given?
Buy all your quality basics at a higher price point, like jeans and classic shirts. It’s ok to chose more expensive pieces if they’ll remain timeless. Spend less on those new trend items as they will go out of fashion quickly.
What item of clothing could you not live without?
Tights! I always wear skirts and shorts so tights are essential, I could live in them.
