After spending a busy day exploring the wonders of Venice, the Travel & Tourism students enjoyed what was scheduled to be a more relaxing day.
The group headed off to Caneva Aquapark in Lazise, near the shores of Lake Garda, which was a two hour coach ride from camp, so an early start was in order.
En route to the aquapark, the students were treated to picture postcard views from the coach as it trundled through famous Italian towns and cities including Verona and Mirano. The stunning views of the sun rising in the sky with the Alps emerging through the morning haze was a perfect way to whet the students’ appetites for the day ahead.
Once the coach arrived, they were eager to get into the water for some fun and enjoy relaxing in the lazy river, but they also took some time to relate the visit to their studies.
When the students were organising the trip, they had to plan visits to different types of attractions, with one being a purpose built manmade facility, hence the visit to the aquapark.
They found out about the different types of attractions within the facility to ensure it catered for different visitors’ needs so it was suitable for all the family. They also discovered the location of the aquapark was perfect for attracting different clientele to maximise its effectiveness as a business.
The students were eager to experience the facility first hand and made their way around the 16 different attractions located within the park, while also taking the time to top up their tan before returning to an expectant drizzly UK.
Despite being designed as a relatively restful day, by the end, the students were exhausted after riding the rapids and experiencing the adrenaline rush of taking on the ‘Stukas Boom’ challenge.
Stukas Boom isn’t for the faint hearted. Those brave enough to take on the challenge enter a capsule and cross their arms before the floor beneath them drops like a trap door and they speed down the near vertical slide to the bottom.
Some of the boys were first to take on the challenge before trying to encourage the girls to give it a go. After some strong persuasion, girl power succeeded in their first successful ‘drop’ which resulted in more following the example set. In fact, more of the girls stepped up and went on Stukas Boom than the boys!
Tomorrow, the group is off on a more cultural tour, where they will visit some of the smaller islands of Venice.
