VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management students

The first group of students to complete the VTCT Level 4 Diploma Salon Management course at South Essex College graduated in style recently at a glittering ceremony in front of pop music royalty.

The 12 students swapped hairdressing gowns for swish graduation caps and gowns as they received their awards from 60s music icon, Sandie Shaw, who was also given an honorary degree for services to music and entertainment.

They may have been the first students to complete the course but it is also the first and only college in south Essex, the course is delivered in Southend, to offer the qualification.

A very proud Head of Department, Nicki Kelly, commented: “It was a great honour to see our very first ever group of students, who have worked so hard and been so committed, be awarded their qualifications and graduate in style.

“The whole team involved in delivering the course, which was new to the College, were just as proud and excited to see that first group take to the stage. They’ve set the benchmark for next year as many of those graduating have already secured employment within the industry – which is fabulous and speaks volumes about the quality of the course.”
