South Essex College Music students took part in Village Green’s Next Generation day teaching their skills to future musicians.
The students ran a ‘Create your own festival performance’ workshop teaching groups of local children how to perform hit songs.
Music Performance and Music Technology students from the College’s Southend Campus spilt the groups into percussions, vocal and tech sections.
Each section learnt their part in the performance and then the group came together at the end to perform the song to a crowd of their teachers and parents.
Student Megan White, 18, from Canvey, said: “We wanted the school groups to be able to make their own festival in 10 minutes. Mike, our Music Lecturer, has been really helpful putting this whole thing together and giving us this opportunity.
“It’s been a great experience, I really enjoyed teaching the skills we’ve learnt to potential future music students.”
Over 4000 local primary school students attended the event on Friday at the festival’s Chalkwell Park site.
There were lots of workshops and activities for the children to take part in plus live music, giving many their first festival experience.
